ESL New Arrivals Program (NAP) may provide an allocation of initial English as a Second Language (ESL) learning support for eligible newly arrived students K-6
NAP support is offered to ALL schools with eligible students. Schools with NO ESL program will receive NAP funding whereas schools with and ESL program MAY receive ESL NAP Supplementation to support their exisitng program subject to numbers of students with need.
To apply for ESL NAP support
schools with no ESL targeted support allocation should complete all details in Sections A and B
schools with an ESL targeted support allocation should complete all details in Sections A, B and C.

To be eligible for ESL New Arrivals support students must meet the following criteria
be newly arrived in Australia (enrolling in school within 6 months of their arrival or for kindergarten students within 18 months of their arrival)
be from a language background other than English and be in need of intensive ESL tuition
be enrolling in an Australian school for the first time or transferring within 6 months
be a permanent resident or a temporary visa holder with an Authority to Enrol form issued by the Temporary Visa Holders Unit (1300 300 229).
Australian Citizens (enrolling in an Australian school for the first time) enter AUS CIT in visa columns. This category applies to:
  • students born in Australia and lived overseas for 2 years or more continuously (please cite time OS in relevant column)
  • students born overseas to Australian citizens and lived OS for more than 2 years continuously (please cite time OS in relevant column)
